The research direction
Inspired by the engine and interconnected systems behind Paradox geopolitical strategy games such as Europa Universalis IV, this concept brings a persistent, explorable world map into a modern geopolitical setting. Select a country to explore its economy, resources, military, and relationships through different map overlays.
The proposed world state connects production chains, raw materials, military capacity, institutions, and diplomatic relationships. A language-model layer would maintain cited political assessments, distinguish observed events from inferred intent, compare competing explanations, and track what evidence changes the assessment.
This is an interactive demo of a project in progress. Country metrics, quarterly element figures, military indices, and relationship overlays are sample data. The China rare-earth window separately cites a USGS annual estimate. No live model, forecast engine, or Paradox engine is connected.
Development roadmap
Now · Country workspace
Explore map modes, production hierarchies, resource records, trade connections, and a distinct space for political assessment.
Next · Sourced world state
Bind each metric to its source, date, unit, and coverage. Keep alliances, partnerships, issue alignment, and inferred intent as separate relationships.
Later · Model and evaluation
Add cited LLM assessments and bounded state transitions. Replay held-out periods, compare baselines, and calibrate uncertainty before presenting forecasts.
